the artist
Bom in Milan in 1959, she completed her arts studies there, receiving her high school diploma from a specialized arts school, before attending the Castello Sforzesco School of Illustration and Graphic Art. She worked professionally in the graphic arts, producing many designs for sales promotion brochures, children's fairy tales, educational films and advertising. Examples of her work appeared at the 1989 Italian Illustration Exhibition organìzed by Pubblitalia. Since 1990 she has worked exclusively as a painter, conducting her own personal research into colour. Various techniques, principally watercolours and acrylics, allow her to fully express her particular artistic sensibility and creative instinct. She has shown her work in numerous personal and group exhibitions in Cortona, Bevagna, Roncegno and S. Giustino. In 1994 she began to work in clay, leaming the techniques with the help of an American potter living in Cortona and a German artist. In 1995 she attended a ceramics course held by the Galleria Sargadelos in Galicia, Spain, working in stoneware, chamote and porcelain. It is the technique of slipware, however, which currently incorporates her personal approach to colour most successfully. The use of coloured glazes gíve depth and substance to her paintings on clay while evoking the delicacy and effectiveness of watercolours.
